In Eclissi (Eclipse), two petrified eyes look in the direction of the viewer entering the exhibition space. They are eyes that never blink, like guards, constantly alert. The artist has filmed Medusa’s head with a red optical filter, red filterd are used in some night-vision devices due filtering capacity and the way it helps the viewer adapt to sudden changes in brightness from dark to blinding light and vice versa. Eclipse shows details of Antonio Canova’s 1798 terracot- ta entitled Testa di Medusa (Medusa’s Head) displayed in the Museo Gypsotheca di Canova in Possagno,Treviso.
